"One of a Kind, One at a Time"
Bryan Cotter is a full time guide and tournament angler from Cedar Park, TX. His Texas Hawgs guide service specializes in all of the Central Texas lakes, as well as Choke Canyon and Falcon down south. Bryan knows how to catch big Texas largemouth, and has been working with me to develop a series of bass rods that we feel are the perfect setups for bringing big Texas bass to the scales!! Here's some of the rods in Bryan's lineup:
|
This rod is a 7'6" deep cranking rod built on a Phenix X-13 composite blank. This blank is built with high end Toray graphite on the
bottom 2/3, and it transitions to fiberglass in the top 1/3. This combination provides a very lightweight and powerful rod for moving
big fish, yet it has a soft glass feel that compliments crankbaits perfectly. The glass also allows the blank to fully load on the cast, so
long casts are automatic. This rod features Fuji 3.5 micro guides configured all on top. This guide setup is hard to believe at first
sight, but it casts like a rocket. The grip assembly is built from top grade cork rings with burl cork trim. The grips were built with deep
cranking in mind, and were custom shaped on a lathe. The fully exposed reel seat and small split foregrip allows three fingers to
contact the blank at all times, so you feel everything instantly. This rod has a tiger wrap in the split grip and a Texas prickly pear
cactus butt grip with a four ring composite cork cap. Bryan would love to keep this rod a secret, but if you ask him nicely, he'll let you
use it to give a crankbait a long ride. 5.6oz with cactus butt and tiger wrap.
CBX-13
This rod was built for targeting monster bass with big swimbaits. It's built on a 7'11" Phenix Ultra Swimbait blank. This is a heavy duty rod that
is surprisingly light for its size. It has a stiff backbone with a soft tip for launching big baits. This rod has REC Recoil guides, which are almost
indestructible. It has a Fuji palm support reel seat that is perfect for reducing fatigue while fishing swimbaits. It also has a removable balancer
butt, which allows you to add weight to the end in order to make the tip feel lighter.
This 7'3" Extra Heavy flipping stick has the pulling power of a broomstick with none of the broomstick weight. It's built on a Phenix Ultra MBX Joe
Everett signature blank. This rod is a pure fish extraction device. Deep wood cover and heavy hydrilla are no match for the muscle this rod has
to offer. Built with spiraled double foot Recoil guides, a split reel seat, and split grips, this rod is still light and sensitive enough to feel subtle
bites in deep cover. With the removable balancer butt up to 3oz, a big jig won't wear you out after a long day of flipping cover. 5.0 oz without
balancer weight.
XH Heavy Hitter Flipping Stick
Big Tex Swimbait Rod
It's not always about muscle when you're putting a tournament stringer together. Sometimes it's about finesse. This 7'0" dropshot rod is a great
combination of both. It's more finesse than muscle, but there's enough backbone on this rod to confidently fish a dropshot around docks and
cover. It's built on a Phenix Ultra MBX dropshot blank. It has a trimmed down Fuji soft-touch reel seat, burl and natural cork grips, and a cactus
butt. The guides are REC Recoils, and the thread is vintage Holland yellow twist.
Drop Shot
There will be more rods added to Bryan's lineup, so come back soon to check them out!!
Glass Crankbait Rod
This is a 7'6" Lamiglas Skeet Reese series fiberglass crankbait blank built with a Fuji ACS seat, hypalon grips, and Fuji 3.5 micro guides. It's a very stout blank with an extra soft glass feel in the top two feet.
